The Illinois Video Gaming Act was passed in July 2009, allowing placement of up to five Video Gaming Terminals (VGT’s) into state licensed establishments, Veteran and Fraternal establishments and truck stops. The VGTs are all connected to and monitored by a Central Communications System authorized by the state of Illinois.
The Illinois Gaming Board is a five-member team, appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the State Senate. It is the job of the IGB to oversee the tax collection system for the video gaming industry, to assure the integrity of its operations by regulatory oversight of video gaming operations; the licensing of video gaming manufacturers, distributors, suppliers, terminal operators, locations and individuals who service the VGTs.
